Dereleech (/ˈdɛrəlitʃ/) is a dark ambient/drone solo project of Matti Tolkki from Finland. The project was born in 2006 when he started experimenting with guitars and electronic filtering. The idea was to use stacks of filters to produce living/organic structureless and minimal ambient soundscapes. Since the beginning the compositional philosophy has shifted more and more towards fully electronic constructs. Complexity and musical structures have often been thought of as secondary features and they haven't been a major part of his creation process. Instead the emphasis has been assigned to tones and the overall atmospheric texture. Dereleech has released four full-length albums, three EPs and three singles. All of his releases have been licensed under Creative Commons (CC BY-NC-SA 3.0) and they can be downloaded for free at this location. Read more on Last.fm.
