This duo has worked together since 1989 when they lived in Mexico City for a year. In Mexico their name was “Dueto Azul” and in the San Francisco Bay area, California from 1990-1993 they formed the band “Espacio Temporal” with Alfonso Jaramillo (Bass Guitar) and later with drummer Axel Herrera – Now a classical music composer in the San Francisco Bay Area. After that, they lived in Santiago, Chile for three years performing in whatever available venue, but they also used this time to write and compose many of their new stash of songs that they would be presenting after returning to California in 1996, where they continued performing and collaborating with local artists. In late 2004 to 2006 two more musicians were incorporated into the band; Manuel Manríquez on bass guitar and Axel Herrera on drums. By the end of 2006 Duamuxa was back to the original lineup; Marci and Ricardo Valdivieso. Marci Valdivieso is the lead singer and the principal songwriter for Duamuxa, she is also known as Marcia Manríquez daughter of Rafael Manríquez a virtuoso guitarist and singer songwriter from Chile that has lived in the San Francisco Bay Area for over 30 years. Marci Valdivieso grew up in New York City where she studied classical singing at the “High School of Performing Arts/ School of Music and Art” better known for the movie “FAME” where she graduated from. Ricardo Valdivieso is a guitarist, singer and songwriter but he also is a Producer and Sound Engineer who has worked with several musicians and artists for the last 20 years mainly in the San Francisco Bay Area. Also in the three years he spent in Chile he had the opportunity of working and collaborating with some of the best singer songwriters in that country, like: Eduardo Peralta and Francisco Villa to name a few. Ricardo grew up singing at school and local radio programs encouraged by his mom. He took private lessons with a piano teacher who lived in the neighborhood (she did not charge him for the lessons since he did not have money to pay for this) later on he assisted at the Conservatory of “Universidad Católica de Valparaíso” where he took guitar and theory for a very short period of time. After that Ricardo moved to the United States and continued his studies of music and sound at Laney College in Oakland, California. Their music is based on poetry with the use of a diverse sense of style not just in the writing but also in the use of a variety of rhythms and sounds from South to North America. Duamuxa’s music is an unwavering call for Love, Understanding and Acceptance between people. Read more on Last.fm.
