EXMISJA is post-hardcore/screamo/crust band from Gliwice, Poland, formed in 2000 in Krzyk squat. Their lyrics at first more direct and strongly associated with with D.I.Y./ anarchist/ squatters movement soon became more personal, yet still political and meaningful. Musical style evolved from chaotic crusty hardcore/punk through emotive crust/screamo to more atmospheric and complex compositions. They were one of first polish bands classified as screamo, but the band itself never felt attached to any particular genre or style. They try to present their message in the spirit of D.I.Y. ethics: through designs and prints, samples, videoclips, distributing their lyrics and art during shows. The band avoids catchy slogans and dogmatic ideologies/mentality in D.I.Y./ anarchist movement criticising it as narrow-minded and emphasises importance of self-progress and keeping strong ethical basis in our efforts to build something better.
