Giveon kicks off Take Time with “THE BEACH,” an ode to his hometown of Long Beach, CA, to which he attributes much of his demeanor in an interview with okayplayer: "I grew up on the East side of Long Beach. It was fun, dangerous, and interesting all at the same time. My mom did a good job of making sure my brothers and I didn’t become a product of our environment, but she also gave us room to experience what it means to be from Long Beach. Giveon Dezmann Evans (born 21 February 1995 in Long Beach, CA, United States), known mononymously as Givēon, is an American R&B singer and songwriter. He rose to prominence with his 2020 song 'Chicago Freestyle' (with Drake), which peaked at number 14 on the Billboard Hot 100. That same year, Giveon signed with Epic Records to release two extended plays: the Grammy Award-nominated Take Time and When It's All Said and Done.
