1) IMA is Nava Dunkelman x Amma Ateria, marches forth with stark percussion and electronics through noise music of Japanese poetry. Through restraint and release, IMA strives for a balance between precision of instrumentation, filmic transitions between silence and densities, driven to brinks of breakage situated by beautification in between. IMA has been presented in residency at The Stone, New York City (2016), San Francisco Electronic Music Festival, SF (2016), San Francisco Art Institute (2018), CCRMA, Stanford University (2018), Other Minds:Latitudes (2019). Performed and collaborated with Ikue Mori, Pauchi Sasaki, Fred Frith, John Zorn, Matmos, Zeena Parkins, Erik Friedlander, Brian Chase, and many others. x Nava Dunkelman (JP) is a percussionist and improviser born in Tokyo, her sonic palette spans the globe from Japanese taiko to Indonesian gamelan, from classical to contemporary to the avant-garde. She has performed and collaborated with William Winant, Fred Frith, John Zorn, Ikue Mori, George Lewis and many others, as well as performed classical and contemporary pieces with the William Winant Percussion Group, Joan Jeanrenaud, San Francisco Girls Chorus, San Francisco Contemporary Music Players and others. x Amma Ateria (HK) is a sound artist, electroacoustic composer, and improviser born in Hong Kong, based in California. Her practice examines the behaviour and physicality of sound in the human experience. She studied with Maggi Payne and Fred Frith, performed with Ikue Mori, Pauline Oliveros, Tarek Atoui, Paul Clipson, Zeena Parkins, Erik Friedlander, Pauchi Sasaki, John Zorn, and many others. Her work has been presented in SoART, Austria (2013), Titanik Gallery, Finland (2014), The Stone, New York (2016), SFEMF, San Francisco (2016), BAMPFA, Berkeley (2017), Exploratorium, San Francisco (2018), Marfa Sounding, Marfa (2018), CCRMA, Stanford University (2018), Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, SF (2019), Other Minds:Latitudes (2019), Minnesota Street Project (2019). x 2) Ima (aka imabirby) is an avian furry electronic musician and visual artist from Virginia. They began releasing music in 2020, and have since collaborated with artists such as Noghead, Ethab, Marigold, yevgeniy bt, velaspace and Lapsihymy, as well as creating visuals for ebu. Ima has received recognition for being played by Former Hero in his Discord Mix 2 in October 2021; receiving remixes of their own music from worldwidewolf (fka Arne) and Mikkerj; DJing at furry conventions including BRFF (2022), FurtheMore (2023) and Bewhiskered (2022, 2023); and releasing remixes of Porter Robinson, Madeon, underscores and Vylet Pony. On January 23, 2023, Ima released their debut album 1.23, which was followed by their sophomore album Forever, For Now in October 2023, and in August 2024 their highly-anticipated FNaF-inspired concept album To The Show!
