There are multiple artist named Intercom. 1) A Montreal-based improv noise band 2) A project that from 2017-2019 was run by Stuart Brookes and now Shawn Mercado 1) Intercom is a Montreal-based improv noise band composed of Nicolas Dion, Jean-Michel Gadoua and Pascal Gauthier. Using synthesizers, bass guitar, electronic and live percussion as well as homemade software they make a beautiful, hilarious and terrifying ruckus on stage. A large dose of humor permeates their music and their artwork, often referencing Quebec's (and more specifically Montreal's) popular culture and language. Members of the band run Le Son 666, a label which releases experimental music created mostly by local artists. 2) INTERCOM is a project that from 2017-2019 was run by Stuart Brookes, also known as Defqwop, and 1/2 of the duo WE ARE FURY. Although he first appeared on Monstercat on Cold Skin: The Remixes on June 12, 2017, and Saving Light: The Remixes on August 18, 2017, he formally debuted on the label on September 4th, 2017 with his debut single, Decoy World (feat. Park Avenue). In March 2019 an announcement was made that Brookes had left the project. However, the artist's management made the decision to bring in another producer to continue the name, Shawn Mercado. This was met with much backlash, because WE ARE FURY made public statements that implied there had been some conflict over it behind the curtain. In the aftermath of this fiasco, Mike Darlington confirmed that Monstercat would no longer work with the INTERCOM project, thus ending the Monstercat timeline of INTERCOM. As of 2019, Monstercat has cut all ties with INTERCOM once Brookes left the project due to personal and health issues. The current producer of INTERCOM is Shawn Mercado. Read more on Last.fm.
