.Arp - Single
Kelbin is modular music in its most sincere, unpretentious form. An electronic musician, producer and artist based in Italy, Kelbin first started dabbling in music in 2015. They've since developed an enveloping organic sound, which stems from pushing modular synth emulation and MIDI programming to its limits. Kelbin's smooth take on genres like IDM, future garage and other forms of contemporary bass music is inspired equally by the abstract, carefully sculpted soundscapes of Eprom, Ivy lab and Amon Tobin, as well as italian ambient artists like Alessandro Cortini and Caterina Barbieri. They joined the crew of The Tabula Rasa Record Company, the label responsible for releasing the likes of RamonPang, ROBY, Asterisk Youth and others. They debuted with the .ARP EP in 2020 - an enchanting, sprawling web of experimental beats. Tracks like Balance mix nimble plucks and modular effects with heavy basslines and driving percussion. Kelbin's fractal-filled vision for music also extends to their artwork, designing all the cover art for their own releases. Their debut album “EFYL” is a bubbling pool of dance music’s most introspective melodies, paired with sound design as detailed and sharp as the universe’s strangest particles. EFYL is the opposite of a concept album - an exploration of modular synthesis, allowing each track to mold, breathe and float its way through mechanical motions, guided by emotive ears. The title EFYL has no definition - it is as abstract and open to interpretation as the strange, generative melodies showcased on it. Kelbin also produces house and techno under DJ Floor and ambient / drone music as Health State Theory in collaboration with dearest alyx. Read more on Last.fm.
