The band Khandroma was founded in 2007 in the city of Freiburg, south Germany. The music can be labelled as progressive rock, containing elements from classical music, world music, metal, jazz and dub. Instruments are drumkit, synthesizer, piano, electric guitar and vocals, in some songs a violon cello, a sampling pad and percussion instruments. The Tibetan name Khandroma (accentuated Khándroma) refers to winged semi-godesses from the Irano-Indian mythology. Khandroma (in Sanskrit: Dakini) are female creatures with a very unstable, wild temperament that act as sources for one's spiritual pratice. They can appear as peacful or wrathful figures, represent encouragement and inspiration for the spiritual way and at the same time overhaul the mental advancement of human people.
