Passeport
There's at least three artists going by the name Lass: 1) Lass cleverly reconciles the centuries-old heritage of great African singers and the modern style of contemporary Afropop stars. Senegalese by birth, he learned music at a very young age, watching Omar Pene and Ismael Lo perform in Youssou Ndour's Dakar club. After his first singles recorded in the studios of Daara J, he was truly saved by music. The story is incredible but true: in the nineties, a group of young people from his village suddenly decided to head off in small boats in an attempt to travel to Europe. Lass, however, refused to go with them; one of his songs was about to be aired on the radio, so Lass avoided getting lost at sea like so many others did. A few years later, arriving in Lyon, he was on the verge of giving up music, focused on finding a proper job and starting all over again... But suppressing one's artistic spirit is easier said than done, and through meetings and collaborations, Lass became one of the pillars of the Voilaaa project by Patchworks and found himself on stage performing for thousands of people with Synapson (hugely popular singles with them also: Souba (4 million plays on platforms), and Always with Tim Dup. The first album Bumaye has received great reponses from medias with national radio Playlists by Radio Nova, France Inter and Cosmo in Germany. His 2nd album Passeport was released spring 2024. 2) A Polish alt-pop artist 3) A bedroom pop duo from the UK Read more on Last.fm.
