lespecial is a trio that possesses a natural talent for composing and improvising confidently outside of the boundaires of musical genres, while at the same time faithfully recreating traditions in world rhythms and musics. Their sound is both well informed and boldly inventive, mixing innovative forms of funk, reggae, hip hop, jazz, and latin, as well as their own experimental sounds that defy convention and categorization. Their constantly evolving sound and setlists, well rehearsed live shows, and adventurous improvisation have gained them respect with audiences at venues such as Pearl Street in Northhampton, MA, the Webster Theater in Hartford, CT, and more. They have shared the bill with acts such as Bob Marley's the Wailers, Frank Zappa Tribute Project/Object, Max Creek, and GFE. All of the members of lespecial pursue vast and diverse musical undertakings, including work and performances with Billy Martin of Medeski Martin and Wood. Lespecial is a three member rock and roll outfit that hail from CT. They take many difference influences such as Medeski Martin and Wood, Radiohead, Mr. Bungle, Les Claypool, Soulive, and Thomas Waits.
