Origin
MSP will remind you of what it was like when music meant something more than samples and commercialism. This is music at its PUREST... Emerging from the creative and eclectic minds that brought you Kings in the Attic springs into existence a new band that not only pushes the envelope of the rock genre but encompasses a style that brings forth the sub-sets of all metal, alternative and acoustic. From it’s foundation in August 2011, rock-duo and extraordinaire pair Omar Martinez (Vocals/Guitar/Strings) and Marcus Savino (Drums/Percussion/Bass) visualized the conceptualization of their band, MSP (The Martinez-Savino Project) as something more than a jumble of commercialistic tunes and beats that produce many record company monoliths. “We prefer to consider ourselves as a modern, constantly evolving project,“ says Savino. “We are strong performers at our respective instruments and we put on an energetic show.” The band has received praise for their new album, titled Origin, for its use of dynamic beats, enigmatic rhythms and often honest, raw and introspective lyrics. The album has been described as a “back-to-basics” record, without the use of the technical wizardry that often frays the integrity of meaningful songs and captivating beats. “The songs on this album really showcase our band’s love, passion and beliefs,” says Martinez. “From the powerful title track to the somber ‘Whisper’, each song tells a story that is dear to our hearts. This is what the roots of music come from: simple chords, strong leads, powerful vocals and passionate words. This is our record.” As a local San Diego band, MSP will not only start hitting the local airways soon, but will begin slamming notes on stages and venues all around the region’s “hot-spots”. Check back to the MSP fan page for more updates. Their new album, Origin, is now available to purchase on iTunes. Read more on Last.fm.
