BARABARA



Obscure independent darkwave/goth/post-punk-influenced band active from 1998 to 2001 around japanese underground visual scene. Originally formed with gt./prog. 幸郎(Yukiro), vo. 霞(Kasumi) and gt./cho. 博士(Hiroshi), then went through some lineup changes. Released several tapes and a full album. Their sound is grim, haunting, darkly atmospheric, with a few sorrowful / melancholic moments and raw aesthetics. They dealt with disgrace, death, disease, macabre and medical related themes. The band planned to do a revival in June, 2015 with Kasumi as their vocalist, but Kasumi left before starting, then later in 2016, Mercuro reformed with RARE (Jigokue's vocalist.) as their new vocalist. They kept this lineup until 2018 when the band went silent with no further releases or lives until 2022 when they released a song in collaboration with DIE-QUÄR.
