Distant Present
Through the years OZY's releases have been appearing in dj-sets and top ten charts of some of the most respected djs in the world. OZY's main output has been THULE RECORDS in Iceland (and its associated labels) but in 2001 London techno pioneer BEN SIMS put out an EP with OZY called 'Dead of Night' on NATIVE RECORDS (THEORY RECORDINGS), with the focal point of electronic take on tribalism, jazz and classic deep house music. Like with some of OZY's earlier work the EP was considered by many to be fresh sounding and quite unique. In 2002 legendary German label FORCE INC. released OZY's debut album 'Tokei', placing OZY within their impressive artist rooster that featured some of the most talented and famous electronic acts around. Recently, OZY has started releasing on the wonderful TRAPEZ label in Cologne, music that could best be described as slinky, articulate tech house with certain pop appeal. Besides his own productions, OZY has shown to have talent for remixing. This can best be heard in his remix of 'Superman', a quirky rock ballade by crazy Icelandic pop band TRABANT, with all its fruity bleep and blop sounds and cracked percussion, recorded while banging furiously on various kitchen appliances. Furthermore, OZY has done remixes for great bands and artists such as MIDIMILIZ, Russian composer TCHAIKOVSKY and GUS GUS. OZY's bi-polar taste in music is also featured in his live performances, either playing live robotic lounge funk or tearing up the floor with svelte minimal tec, keeping the audience on their toes. Armed with the latest audio manipulation software and midi controllers, every live set makes room for improvisation where the music is re-defined, often with surprising outcomes (even for the artist himself). Having played in global hot-spots Germany (e.g. STUDIO 672, TRESOR), Australia, Russia, France and the UK, OZY represents the nu-breed of fine electronic music coming out of Iceland.
