There are at least three artists operating under the name Roj: 1.The British artist Roj Stevens recording on the Ghost Box label. 2. The Kurdish pop singer and guitarist Roj Karim 3. The Kurdish folk singer Roj / Roj Elî / Roj Ali / Hozan Roj 1. Roj Stevens is the former keyboard player of Broadcast. His music is described on the Ghostbox label's web site as Utilizing the tools of tape, percussion and electronics to explore new territories in modern psychology and alternate modes of consciousness. Roj Karim was born and raised in the beautiful Kurdish city of Sulymania in south Kurdistan. Already at the age of 4 years old Roj began singing constantly at home and dreamed of his own solo album in the future. In 1985 Roj started to study music at a music club and began to play the keyboard. 3 years later he started a band called “Kozik” with four other artists. Roj was the leading singer and played the keyboard. After releasing 4 albums the band separated and Roj moved to Europe where he began his solo career. In 2001 Roj released his own solo album called “Karwaneeki dur” which means “a long caravan” in Kurdish.
