Suruaika / The Candles Burning Blue



Suruaika was a gothic rock/post-punk band from Tampere, Finland. Found in 1997, originally under the name Todellisuus 666. Original line-up was Matthew (vocals & stringed instruments), Tuomas (lyrics) and Toni (electronics). Todellisuus 666 was a comics-styled continuation of classic finnish gothic rock tradition (Musta Paraati, Silmät) and was backed up by a drum machine. As the band changed it's name to Suruaika, it's style also shifted to a little bit more serious direction. Debut album, Avointen hautojen päivä, was released by Plastic Passion record label and featured kind of best of of the songs the band had produced until then. Second album, Nekropoli (Cyberware Productions, 2004), featured a live drummer and a more post-punk style feel to it. In 2006, Nimesi jää elämään EP and the third album Pelkäämme vain toisiamme (Cyberware Productions) were released. The band decided to quit in autumn of 2007.
