Russell Taylor, better known as Tayla, is a London based DJ / Producer and releases his music on LTJ Bukem's Good Looking Records. At an early age he developed a love for Hip Hop & Detroit House music & cites his Father's passion for the legendary Record Label Motown as a huge influence, saying he owes everything he's about musically to that because it made such an impression on him at a young age. It was so important to me. Those artists taught me about real, honest music he says. He grew up in North London & whilst dj'ing at local parties, he formed a friendship with another DJ, LTJ Bukem. Aged 19, he was on holiday in Ibiza, met a promoter & got his first DJ set in a club called Summons. The decision had been made and his pursuit to become a DJ had begun. After years of hard work and networking his talent and unique style was recognised by the organisers of Dreamscape, World Dance & Fantasia to name a few. Three of the biggest parties in England at that time. He then started to venture into the studio. Firstly with Satin Storm, they produced Lets Get Together, which made an impact on the Drum & Bass scene and was championed by some of the top DJ’s. That track gave him some of the exposure he was searching for. Bukem then formed Good Looking Records and the pair collaborated on the label’s second release Bang the Drums. He went on to work with other's, teaming up with Aquarius (Photek) on one of his most memorable works, Bringing Me Down going on to work with PFM and Artemis. As he moved further into the scene he started to make an impact with his dj'ing at the infamous Logical Progression events playing at clubs like Ministry of Sound, Cream and on tour across the world. After various releases on the Earth compilations and Logical Progression Albums, Tayla started his own label Nexus Records which saw the first release Doc Scott’s Tokyo Dawn, come out as a limited edition vinyl through the Earth box set. Then followed releases from himself, Alaska, LTJ Bukem’s Music Re-work and Jazz Lick from Peshay. Then came the release of Soul Survivors, a Nexus compilation album that showcased the diversity of the label. Personal reasons forced him out of the scene for a while but in recent years he has returned to dj'ing & has released music on Good Looking & Brian G's Label Liquid V, collaborating with Furney. To bring us up to date, Tayla is currently in the studio working on his Album. www.mixcloud.com/Tayla www.facebook.com/TaylaNexus www.facebook.com/TaylaDJ www.myspace.com/djtaylaglo www.twitter.com/#!/_Tayla www.soundcloud.com/tayla1 www.youtube.com/user/DJTAYLA100 Read more on Last.fm.
