Enlightenment



Thornapple (쏜애플) is a Korean indie band that formed in 2009. The band is currently composed of members Yoon Sung Hyun (윤성현 - vocal, guitar), Bang Yo Seb (방요셉 - drum), and Hong Dong Kyun (홍동균 - guitar), who was added to the band in 2016. Former members include Oh Jung Min (오정민 - guitar), Shim Jae Hyun (심재현 - bass, synth), and Han Seung Chan (한승찬 - guitar). They are signed to Happy Robot Records. Their music is characterized by a dreamlike elegant shoegaze sound and evocative lyrics. Thornapple released their 1st full length album ‘난 자꾸 말을 더듬고 잠드는 법도 잊었네 (I keep stuttering and have forgotten how to sleep)’ in July 2010 and went on hiatus shortly thereafter while members Yoon Sung Hyun and Shim Jae Hyun completed their army service. After both were discharged in 2012, they released a re-mastered version of their debut album, which sold out in only a few months. During this period, Oh Jung Min was replaced by Han Seung Chan. In 2013, they appeared on “MUST - Era Of The Band,” a Korean TV program, where they gained recognition for their remakes of well-known songs. They released their 2nd album '이상기후 (Abnormal Climate)', on June 12th, 2014. In February 2015, it was announced that guitarist Han Seung Chan was leaving the band to focus on his university studies. Their first EP, '서울병 (Seoul Sickness)', was released May 19th, 2016.
