Marts is best known in Lithuania as the singer and lyricist of the Šiauliai-based indie rock outfit Lygiailyja and the experimental side project Sweet Energy. His journey through sound began in the early ‘90s, when his first collaborations with various artists surfaced between 1993 and 1995—a period marked by bold experimentation and restless creativity. By 2004, a new chapter began. With fresh musical ideas and expanding technical horizons, Marts dove headfirst into a renewed wave of creativity. During 2004–2005, he teamed up with Serbian guitarist Dalibor Rajninger, resulting in several distinctive tracks—among them the standout “Impressions Growing Up.” Marts has since carved out a unique niche as a developer and distortionist of groove-driven basslines, sculpting deep, hard-hitting rhythms layered with melodic, genre-blurring textures. His sound moves fluidly between moods—mellow yet moody, lonesome yet uplifting—embracing a poly-genre essence that resists easy classification but always feels unmistakably his own.
