GladiLord
Born in june 14th of 1994 at Madeira Island, Portugal, a simple boy called Leandro Moniz lived most of his life very far away from what we could call the mashup scene. In fact, Madeira Island (where this same artist lived this whole time, and still lives) is surely one of those last places that you certainly would relate to something like bootlegs' production, right? Traditional music, Pimba (or, in English slang, Dad Music), Discoteque/Club/EDM-themed sounds and so on... all of this being the musical standard of such isolated island in the ocean... and Leandro surely was annoyed from almost all of this generic lack of interest in alternative music. So what happened, then? In 2008, a YouTube channel was born, and so did an entity that would change, in a way or another, Madeira's way of hearing its own traditions. And so, GladiLord went alive! Influenced by such legendary mashup names as Neil Cicierega, WaxAudio, as well by his own musical taste for alternative and the so-called Heavy Music (basically every Metal and most of Rock subgenres), Gladi decided to fulfill his own resolution: creating content that no one else would dare to replicate in the exact same way, much less to surpass it. By trial and error, the newby content creator tried many ways of achieving that same goal, many of those resulting in utter and inevitable failure. And kept on like that... until 2011. At that time, Leandro reflected about his own way of doing stuff. That's when a certain bet in his High School days (in Madeira Island, High School, or 10th-to-12th grades were called back then as Secondary Grade) came into the table, due to a debate about weird music. At that time (2011), he came up with a crazy theory, based on his YouTuber experience: every music can be recreated, reused, recycled and even... deconstructed like a puzzle. Therefore, making Max De Sousa (a very renowned Madeiran legend in traditional Madeira music back in the 30's, up to the 50's) singing at sound of Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers theme would be the craziest thing ever done at the ears of ANY portuguese speaker! After they heard that nonsense and said that would sound terrible and impossible to make for the start of conversation, Leandro made a bet: if by the week after that creation was made successfully and sounded something like a song, a free lunch would be the gain! And so was born GladiLord's 1st mashup ever done, Casei Com Uma Power Ranger, a mashup that would be the 3rd or 4th to be ever published in his newly created dedicated exclusively to music YouTube Channel, GladiLordMusic And thus, GladiLord began to gradually become a mashup artist that, for best and worst, was unforgettable to say the least. And it's as well needless to say that Leandro Moniz finally found his way of creating many of his desired unreplicable content. Read more on Last.fm.
