Milla
Milla (born Milica “Milla” Jovovich on December 17, 1975, in Kyiv, Ukraine) is an American folk pop / folk rock singer-songwriter, actress, and model. She released her music under the mononym Milla, blending acoustic folk, Eastern European motifs, and dream-pop influences. Her debut album, The Divine Comedy (1994, SBK Records), was produced by Rupert Hine and Richard Feldman. The lead single “Gentleman Who Fell” reached No. 21 on Billboard’s Modern Rock Tracks and charted in the UK. The album features songs such as “It’s Your Life,” “Charlie,” and “Bang Your Head”, combining folk instrumentation with poetic, introspective lyrics. The record drew praise for its lyrical sophistication and ethereal production. A later compilation, The Peopletree Sessions (1998), collected home recordings made with Chris Brenner; Jovovich has since stated that it was released without her authorization. Milla also contributed the song “Rocket Collecting” to the 2003 film soundtrack Underworld (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack), marking a darker, more cinematic direction that blended folk melancholy with electronic atmosphere. Another later track, “Electric Sky” (2012), revisited her ethereal pop sensibility. While she is widely known for her acting career, all official musical works were released under the name Milla. Other artists named Milla: A young indie pop musician from Brussels, Belgium. A noise rock band from Estonia. A jazz rap collective (details currently limited). Read more on Last.fm.
