Emotions, Poetry.White. These have been the central essence of our music. Naad was formed in July 2006 in college amidst an existing vibrant music scene. We just loved music and experimented with everything possible - Sufi to Funk, Psychedelic to Progressive, 70's to Post-punk. We were so eager to discover, we decided to go that extra mile and make our own music, and we haven't looked back since. Instead we just looked around for inspirations. Our band consists of the following: Taru - thinks he's Bruce (Dickinson? Springsteen?...Almighty?). Wants Madhur to sell his Electric Guitar and buy a Hollow!! Uvais - loves both, Guns and Roses. Thinks he can cover The Wall. Madhur - dreams of an Oscar someday. Dedicated his life to get a Perfect Acoustic Guitar sound on the Electric. Didn’t listen to Taru. Maruthi - if we ever needed a new progression, a reality check, an opinion, criticism, brainstorming, or for that matter waking up for practice at 3am, we needed to look no further than our resident bassist and self coached music expert Maruthi who made us possible on stage and bounced on it like no tomorrow. Ashwin – “Ashwin, what’s the key of this song?” “White!!!!!!!!!!!!!”. Sometimes credited with introducing the word “Saavadi” to Taru. Our first song Dekhte Dekhte is about rain and the how it affects each one of us in different ways. Madhur fills in with acoustic arpeggios through the song creating a strong atmosphere. Uvais' deep and flowy leads along with a Taru's haunting vocals make this song an instant addiction among audience. So much so, when we played the song at Saarang (IIT Madras, Cultural Fest), we were appreciated for our fresh sound and were featured on Radiomirchi. We went on to make several other diverse tracks such as Zindagi, Sunset, Khuda Ban Ke, Tere Hi Paas, Paheli etc. Our influences - 5 Sense Organs. But our biggest influence is the 6th sense, we call - The Nonsense! We don't want to sound old, world altering, lecturing and philosophizing. Not looking for The Thirteenth Note. We just want to sound much like ourselves - College guys screwing up daily, having fun, having those thoughtful moments, studying all nights, not knowing a worry in life. If were to do it all over again it would again be NAAD. Read more on Last.fm. User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional terms may apply.
