Noiduin
Noiduin (I cast a spell) is a Finnish Dark Folk ensemble whose music fuses self-made traditional instruments with myth, atmosphere, and raw emotion. The project began in 2020 when multi-instrumentalist Jemina Kärvi started crafting and playing her own jouhikko, inspired by artists like Pekko Käppi and Einar Selvik. What started as a personal experiment soon evolved into a full musical vision, resulting in the debut EP Korven kolkon kainalossa (2022). During the process, she connected with Henri Virolainen, whose deep roots in Finnish folk and metal scene led him to join the project. Their second EP Alinen (2023) deepened their connection to Finnish mythology and dark folk aesthetics. As demand for live shows grew, Noiduin expanded into a full live band. In 2025, Noiduin released their debut full-length album Lovi, further refining their sound and lyrical world. Noiduin now performs with a range of handcrafted instruments, jouhikkos, kanteles, war drums, and rattles, bringing ancient sounds into a new form of contemporary dark folk that honors Finnish tradition while forging a path of its own.
