Subnormal
Subnormal is a word symbolising the divergence away from the traditional approach to creating music. A band influenced more by progressive and experimental elements, delving deep into the unconscious, rather than the triviality of day to day existence. Heavy metal is a genre to describe Subnormal’s sound if you have a hard time distinguishing between Guy Sebastian and Paul Kelly. Alternative would be better, but far too ambiguous. Subnormal have their own genre; sub-normal. You will understand when you hear the combination of sweet textured guitar riffs, dynamic vocals, various time sequences, aggressive bass passages, held all together by intense drum chops. If you take pleasure in the music of Tool, Rage Against The Machine, Nirvana, King Crimson, Mr. Bungle and Metallica, then this you will soak up. In short, Subnormal is a band not for the light-hearted. The lyrics are ruthlessly poetic, touching on issues and emotions most people would rather forget. Subnormal hail from the inner suburbs of Melbourne, Australia, and has evolved from previous projects such as 'Incarnate', 'Gargamel', 'Season' and 'Gelfling'. To date, the band has released one self-titled EP, and as of this writing, have just started promoting the release of their first full-length album 'Theory For Evolution', due late 2006. www.subnormal.com.au Read more on Last.fm.
